“Wai Wetlands?” 2008

Fish & Game NZ is supporting the 2008 Wetland Symposium, “Wai Wetlands?” (University of Canterbury, Christchurch, 14-16 February 2008) with sponsorship and involvement in workshops and field trips.

Event Brochure

A practical, participant-driven forum for knowledge exchange, training and networking the Symposium will be highly relevant for any landowner and/or game bird hunter interested in wetland conservation or enhancement. Participation is expected from landowners, iwi, people committed to wetland biodiversity and restoration, policy makers and wetland scientists from all over New Zealand.

The Symposium is a joint venture between the National Wetland Trust, NIWA, University of Canterbury, Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury, Ngai Tahu, Department of Conservation, Landcare Research, Fish & Game, the University of WaikatoMeridian Energy, Waihora Ellesmere Trust and Banrock Station Wines &  Wetland Care New Zealand.

Fish & Game NZ, supported by the volunteer efforts of game bird hunters, has created, restored and maintains thousands of hectares of wetland habitat throughout New Zealand. To see the programme and register for the event go to: National Wetland Trust
