Special ponds for novice hunters

For many years Fish & Game Auckland Waikato have put aside specially created ponds and positions on their land for junior hunters. This year they extended that offer to all ‘novice’ hunters in order to provide wider opportunities to those interested, but new to the sport, to take it up.

A ‘novice’ hunter is anyone (of any age) who has not purchased a gamebird hunting licence before. All they are required to do to be eligible is to send the details of their name, address and date of birth to the Auckland Waikato Fish & Game office at Brymer Rd, RD 9, Hamilton:

Those under the age of 16 on May 1, 2005, must also send in a signed declaration by their parent/guardian stating that the junior possesses the necessary gun, ammunition, decoys and other gear, and will be accompanied by a competent adult who holds a firearms licence.
