Bay of Plenty Report
Down my way it's all on.The fish in all our waterways are being very obliging by readily accepting the dry flies and putting on a show of strength once hooked which belies the size of some of them.
The best dry to give the results to date and particularly in the mid morning is the Kakahi Queen in sizes 14 and 16 on a 15+ foot leader . When the hatches cease then nymphing is the go and my own personal favourite and by far the most successful is the flashback P/Tail #16 as the point fly.
All the rivers are running extremely low so heavy nymphs are totally unneccessary and counterproductive.
We have had some glorious days on the Motu, the Waioeka and it's tributaries and all is looking real good for the coming months.
Over at the lakes there is some excellent fishing being seen on an almost daily basis.
Flaxy and Aniwnenua are also fishing well for those anglers who are familiar with the wily trout that occupy these lakes------frustrating for many extremely rewarding for the few.
All in all great prospects all round but we do need rain badly just hope we dont get too much and bugger things up.
Happy Christmas to you all Tightlines Graham.
