LAKE ANIWHENUA & RANGITAIKI RIVER SYSTEM
The area has had it’s first lot of dirty water for the winter so far. The recent heavy rains coloured everything overnight. Two or three days of fine weather usually see it back to normal.
Lake Aniwhenua has fished great as usual but there’s not been many anglers to the area this winter. The fish have certainly not received any pressure. The lake is looking the best it’s been for a long time. There’s been more frosts this year already, so most of the surface weed has disappeared. From now on the Browns return from spawning and tend to populate the shallows and shore line. August and September are the best months for this.
