Bay of Plenty Report

The excitement is mounting as 1st October nears. All indications are that this seasons river fishing in "my beat" is going to be a cracker as the winter has been relatively mild with perfect spawning conditions and those adult fish have not been subjected to too many harsh floods and will have come through pretty well unscathed.

Already I have been wandering the rivers and streams sussing out likely spots and have been pleasantly surprised at what I have seen .So all will come up to their full potential in the coming months of that I am sure.
The last few weeks have been quiet in general but those rivers that have remained open have been productive for the few anglers that have continued to fish as for myself I have mainly been sticking to the lower Waioeka due to it's closeness to home and I have managed a few good fish and 2 were on the dryfly under pretty torrid weather conditions it is worth noting that one several of my wanderings I have witnessed good hatches of mayfly etc .

The rotorua Lakes hold great promise with the Tarawera fish bigger than for a few seasons and Rotoiti fish being of high quality.

1st 2nd and 3rd of october will see me and a couple of mates going bush so hopefully there will be good news to report for the next Reel Life.
Good luck and tightlines to everyone for the coming season
Best wishes
Graham.
