Do you Fish in the Nelson/Marlborough Region?
For the 2007/2008 season Fish & Game and Landcare Research are sponsoring an angler study which will investigate how changing fishery conditions affect angling usage and value of our trout fisheries in the Nelson-Marlborough region. As you are aware, many of Nelson-Marlborough’s outstanding trout fisheries have come under threat from Didymo, hydro scheme proposals, increased angler pressure and various forms of environmental degradation, etc. This research aims to develop an empirical understanding of these impacts as they relate to anglers, aid Fish & Game’s ability to manage the resource and provide a body of evidence to be used to support the protection of our fisheries in future policy making.
Stephen Beville, a PhD candidate at Lincoln University is conducting the study using state of the art statistical models. In order to get this research off the ground and maximize its benefit a large number of anglers are needed to complete a survey. This survey has been specially designed to be relatively fun and interesting with an estimated completion time of 15 minutes.
Your support in this research is highly valuable. To show our appreciation, anglers completing the survey will be entered into a draw to win either a Sage Z-Axis fly-rod (your choice of model) or a $1000 gift voucher to Hunting & Fishing Nelson.
For your convenience the survey may be taken online by typing in the following link, www.bullaburra.net/nz/start.php?pwd=main
If possible, we encourage you to complete the survey online. Alternatively hard copy surveys can also be attained by contacting Fish and Game Nelson Marlborough Region (ph 03 544 6382) and a returned stamped survey will be mailed to you. Complete the survey as soon as possible to be in to win. Thanks for your support!
Sincerely, Stephen Beville
