Canada Goose Hunt - Molesworth and Adjoining Stations: 30 May - 2 June

These hunts take place in the Marlborough High Country, South of Blenheim on the famous Molesworth Station and surrounding properties. This huge area with its often harsh weather and rugged terrain is home and breeding grounds to the Canada Goose. 4WD vehicles are essential. Many years of liaison and negotiation with landowners for access to this country has taken place to enable recreational hunters to enjoy the challenges of goose hunting and to enable effective control of goose populations. Today these hunts are a significant part of this regions gamebird hunters season.

THERE ARE 3 GOOSE HUNTS PER YEAR.

All commence on a Friday morning until the following Monday afternoon.

1. March: Usually first weekend in March.

2. June: Queens Birthday Weekend.

3. October: Labour Weekend

All hunt details including hunt dates, pre hunt meeting dates and application close date are advertised in the Nelson Evening Mail and Marlborough Express, one month before each hunt. Hunter applications close the second Wednesday of the Month prior to each hunt. Applications can be received in advance.
