HEALTHY WETLANDS, HEALTHY PEOPLE
NORTH CANTERBURY – FRIDAY 1 FEBRUARY

This year North Canterbury Fish & Game staff are again teaming up with the Department of Conservation, Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu, Environment Canterbury, and the Ornithological Society. On Friday 1 February we are taking a busload of young children and their parents out to Lake Ellesmere.

Experts will be on hand to show children the unique wetland plants around the lake margin. Scopes and binoculars will then be focused to see the huge range of birds that inhabit the lake. We will then travel to the Selwyn River, where the kids can have lunch and have a paddle while hearing about some of the threats to the lake environment.
