Greenstone Controlled Fishery

The controlled fishery will be commence on the Greenstone River above the Slyburn confluence from 1 February 2007 and run until 31 March 2007. The regime, in its third year was established to control angling pressure on the river in two of the busiest months of the season.
The controlled fishery is divided into three different beats to separate angling parties on this pressure sensitive river. Beats are allocated on a first come, first served basis and anglers can book a beat up to five days in advance. To provide anglers with more options, they are now able to book a beat for one or two days or two different beats on consecutive days.
The invasive alga didymo has not been discovered in the Greenstone or Caples Rivers. To protect these waters, anglers must obtain a backcountry licence and agree to didymo cleaning procedures before they can apply for beats within the Controlled Fishery.
