Southland > Hunting News May 2009

The fine and calm weather conditions on opening weekend meant that hunters did not have as much success as they would have liked.

Hunters were disappointed that the average bag was down for the weekend, but some commented that you can’t go wrong with duck hunting. When the weather is fine, the hunting’s not as good, but you enjoy the day. When the weather is “rubbish’, the hunting is great.

The good news is that there are lots of birds available. The bad weather experienced lately means there is more food about, the birds are flying about more and are generally more “huntable” as the season continues.
