Taranaki Region Kids’ Trout Fishing Days

Taranaki Fish and Game, in conjunction with a number of local angling clubs and businesses, have once again organised a number kids’ fishing events throughout the region. These events involve the supervised fishing for 2-year-old rainbow trout in a contained, pre-release net in an area of a lake or river.

The events are scheduled to take place at Lake Rotomanu in New Plymouth (8am - 1pm) and Lake Wiritoa in Wanganui (9am - 12pm) on Saturday 4^th October. Children must be registered to fish. To register your child for the Lake Rotomanu event please call into either Taranaki Hunting & Fishing in New Plymouth (06) 7572255. To register your child for the Lake Wiritoa event please call into Eides Sports, Victoria Ave, Wanganui (06) 3455391. Staff will be on hand to process your registration. All fishing gear will be supplied on the day .

It is important to remember that you need to register your child as each will little “Angler” be allocated an individual time slot in which they can fish on the day. This even is only run for those children that have registered and unfortunately children that just turn up on the day will not be able to fish. These fishing days have proved to be extremely popular and as a result need to be run on a fairly tight time line in order to allow everyone a chance to have a crack at landing a trout.
