SENIOR FISH AND GAME OFFICER
Passionate about protecting the freshwater environment? Have a desire to manage sportsfish and gamebird resources? Then this exciting and challenging role with Wellington Fish and Game Council is for you.
As part of a dedicated team based in Palmerston North, you will focus on resources within the Wellington region which stretches from the Central North Island to Wellington City. Your responsibilities will be to manage projects across a wide variety of fish and game core functions: species management, habitat advocacy, public awareness, research projects, compliance.
You will be overseeing and providing leadership of our field work programmes required for sportfish and gamebird monitoring, as well as providing input into resource enhancement projects.
Ideally, you will possess a tertiary qualification in freshwater ecology or natural resource management, and have relevant work experience that relates to project management. It would be preferable if you have an active interest in fishing and/or hunting and are physically fit.
You should have developed excellent written and verbal communication skills, there will be opportunities for you to use, and develop, your training.
