Fish & Game 2009 Gamebird Food Festival

The 2009 Gamebird Food Festival restaurants have been busy with hunters bringing a variety of gamebirds

Whether it’s a dinner for two, or an evening out for mates and friends, there are menus and banquets to delight. With a discount for provision of your gamebird meat, you can enjoy the night out, perhaps even lash out on some excellent wines and desserts.

Many of our gamebird festival chefs will design a series of dishes for your gamebird catch, and others will serve your gamebirds in three or four ways for a minimum party of diners. There’s a special gamebird cooking masterclass and degustation dinner on the 27 June in Christchurch and a class to learn how to expertly pluck and prepare your gamebirds in Kati Kati.

Northland - Mid Season Update

We are now well into our season and hunters appear to have done well.

Keen duck hunters will have noticed the sun rising fairly late at this time of the year and slipping away rather early so its no surprise to learn that the shortest day is nearly upon us. Southland - Calling all duck hunters! - Shortest Day Duck Hunt Weekend - 20/ 21 June

The bursts of sleet and hail currently slapping my office window remind me that hunting conditions are somewhat different at this stage of the season than the calm, sunny and settled weather we experienced over opening weekend! Well, this coming weekend’s ‘shortest day duck hunt’ provides a great opportunity to get out there and have a go in conditions that should prove more ‘traditional’ for duck hunting! More
