Southland Council Meetings

These meetings are open to licence holders and the general public, and attendance is welcome.

All meetings commence at 6pm and are held an the Southland Fish and Game Council office - 17 Eye Street, Invercargill.

Meeting Procedures

Fish and Game Council meetings are governed by a set of Standing Orders. This set of rules guides the conduct of proceedings, ensures meetings are run in an orderly fashion, and that there is fairness and transparency to everyone. They provide a framework for how the Council operates, including how decisions and regulations are made, how the Council uses its time, and expectations of members' behaviour.

Speaking to the Council

You are entitled and welcome to present to the Council.

To do so, you must 

  • Register in writing at least three days prior to the meeting,  (Ideally, a fortnight prior so it can be added to the agenda)
  • State the topic you wish to address,
  • Identify the name(s) of those presenting.

The speaker/deputation can have up to two presenters and will have a maximum of 10minutes to speak (a longer time may be arranged if determined prior). 

Note, the Chair can use his/her discretion to refuse speaking rights on reasonable grounds.
