Lower North Island Fishing Is Firing!
Some welcome rain arrived last week, just in time to recharge the rivers across the region which were getting perilously low.
Most of the major waterways in the Wellington registered freshes, rejuvenating the waterways and the fish.
The higher flows flushed out a lot of the algae which was becoming a nuisance for anglers in some of the lowland rivers.
A brief spell of humid conditions, followed by the rain, reinvigorated the insects too - the cicada hatch continues and has got to be one of the best we've had in years.
Sunny skies and warm temperatures continue across the lower North Island, making for a superb summer, big terrestrials are out in numbers, and our drift dives are revealing excellent trout numbers.
Get into the action if you haven’t got out on the water yet this season.
