Reel Life November 2022

December is looking great for fishing, and it's a great time to get out there for a fish.

The days are getting longer, meaning you have more opportunities and more time to enjoy fishing.

We've been sent in some great pics of fish caught in November, so be sure to check out the regional links above to see how the season has been going around the country.

The links above are also full of handy hints and tips from our staff to help you have a better chance of success when out fishing.

Many anglers overlook the lower reaches of our rivers, but they are a fantastic spot at this time of year.

The fishing can be exceptional, and we are getting good reports of good quality fish being caught in the lower reaches, especially in the estuarine areas.

Over the Christmas holiday period and into the New Year, keep an eye out for any Fish & Game events on over the summer.

There will be soft bait workshops, introductory flyfishing workshops, competitions, and boat fishing seminars, to name a few, but keep an eye on your local Fish & Game region's Facebook page for any info on upcoming events.

It won't be long before we start to hear reports of salmon being caught on the South Island's East Coast.

A few freshes have come down Canterbury's big rivers recently, so conditions are looking bang on for some salmon to start running shortly.

The Southland Fish & Game team have once again hit out of the park with their spin fishing tips this month, be sure to check out their report on the oldies but goodies that will catch fish.

Hawkes Bay angler Aaron Groube has set out to prove there is plenty of fish in Hawkes Bay's rivers, and so far this year has caught and released over 300 fish.

This a great advertisement for a region that anglers often overlook, but now its secret is out; I'd say it will get a visit from a few more anglers over the summer.

Many Fish & Game regions will hold their Annual Public Meetings in the coming weeks.

This is an excellent way for you as a licence holder to learn more about what Fish & Game does for you in your region; it's well worth the effort to find out what your license fee goes toward.
