Submission of a photo in the Fish & Game New Zealand winter fishing photo competition (“the Competition”) is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

ENTERING A PHOTO IS DEEMED ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
  1. PROMOTER: The Promoter is the New Zealand Fish and Game Council (“Fish & Game”). The sponsor is Latitude Fly Gear (“the Sponsor”).

  2. ELIGIBILITY: Open to New Zealand residents, except councillors, volunteers, and employees of any Fish & Game council, competition sponsors, judges, and their immediate families. Fish & Game reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries.

  3. HOW TO ENTER: Photos must be uploaded through the competition entry page at www.fishandgame.org.nz and meet these terms and conditions. Entries submitted by any other means will not be considered.

  4. ENTRY PERIOD: Entries close at midnight on 31 August 2026. Photos submitted after this time are ineligible. The Promoter may change the entry period at their discretion.

  5. PHOTO REQUIREMENTS: Photos must meet reasonable standards of decency and the following requirements:
    a. Photographs must depict winter freshwater fishing in a Fish & Game region of New Zealand. Photos taken in the Taupō fishing region are not eligible.
    b. Photos must be submitted as a .jpg or .jpeg file, minimum 1 MB and maximum 5 MB.
    c. Entries must not have won any other photographic competition or be currently entered in one.
    d. Photos may be landscape or portrait orientation.
    e. Fish may be shown dead or alive. All photos must demonstrate safe and humane handling.
    f. The entry description must include the date and location of the photograph.
    g. Images must be original work not previously published or publicly circulated.
    h. Fish & Game retains the right to use winning images for promotional and commercial purposes from the conclusion of the Competition, at no cost.
    i. The winning photographer’s name and image may be used by Fish & Game for promotional purposes.

    Fish & Game has sole discretion to determine whether a photo meets the above requirements.

  6. NUMBER OF ENTRIES: Entrants may submit up to three photos. Each photo must be submitted individually and comply with these terms and conditions.

  7. HOW THE WINNER IS DETERMINED: The winner will be selected by a judging panel appointed by the Promoter, based on subject matter, technical quality, originality, and composition. Judging will be anonymous. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  8. WINNER NOTIFICATION: The winner will be announced on the Fish & Game website and social media channels and notified by email or telephone. If the winner cannot be contacted within seven days of announcement, the prize will pass to the next eligible entrant. In the event of a draw, lots will decide the winner.

  9. PRIZE: The winner receives the prize pack from the Sponsor as described on the competition entry page. The Promoter may substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value. Subject to stock availability and the Sponsor’s terms and conditions.

  10. ANNOUNCEMENTS: By entering, entrants agree to participate in any competition publicity and to their identity being disclosed in announcements and promotional material. The winner also agrees to their image being used for publicity purposes without payment.

  11. PRIZE ELIGIBILITY: The Promoter is not responsible if the winner is unable to redeem their prize.

  12. PHOTO USAGE: By submitting a photo, the entrant grants the Promoter permission to use the image to promote Fish & Game New Zealand or the Competition, in perpetuity, across print, digital, and other channels, at no cost and at the Promoter’s discretion.

  13. PHOTO TALENT: By submitting a photo, the entrant declares they hold permission from all identifiable individuals in the image to share and publish their likeness for Fish & Game’s use (for anyone under 18, parental or guardian consent must have been obtained). The entrant also confirms they hold any required permissions from owners of land, buildings, or other property depicted. The entrant indemnifies the Promoter against any related third-party claims.

  14. PHOTO COPYRIGHT: By submitting a photo, the entrant declares they took the photo and hold sole intellectual property rights to it. The entrant indemnifies the Promoter against any claim arising from a third-party ownership dispute. The Promoter may request proof of ownership.

  15. SOCIAL MEDIA: By entering, you agree to release Meta Platforms (Facebook/Instagram) from any liability related to your entry, and acknowledge that this Competition is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta Platforms.

  16. GOVERNING LAW: This Competition is governed by New Zealand law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

  17. ENTRY FORMAT: Entries must be digital photo files from a camera, smartphone, or scanner. Hard copy entries will not be accepted.

  18. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Entries may not be acknowledged or returned. Entrants are responsible for ensuring their entry is received on time.

  19. CHANGES: The Promoter reserves the right to change competition details, including the prize, at any time. Changes will be reflected in these terms and conditions and on the Fish & Game website.

  20. PERSONAL INFORMATION: Personal information collected in connection with this Competition is governed by the Privacy Act 2020. It will not be shared with third parties without your consent, but you authorise Fish & Game to contact you about the Competition or related promotions.
